History
In 1989, C-Byte's current Chairman, Trevor Biscope, founded C-Byte. This group set out to build scalable computer systems
using commodity processors that would deliver dramatically improved price/performance and flexibility compared with mini
computers of the day.
C-Byte has remained focused on scalable systems utilizing commodity components, but has vastly broadened the scope of
its customer services, professional services and partnerships to address the requirements of data center environments.
C-Byte pioneered large-scale commercial computers, shipping its first systems in January 1990 and becoming the first
company to commercially exploit SMP as a way to run multiple commodity processors within a single operating system image.
Leveraging the price/performance, scalability and functionality of relational database management systems (RDBMS), C-Byte's
systems
were selected by thousands of organizations to host core business applications and decision support systems.
Like C-Byte's first servers, the next generation SMP architecture was driven by demand for enterprise servers
with greater scalability and price/performance. In addition, designed for high availability and manageability
required to address the data center environment traditionally dominated by costly mainframe systems.
Throughout its history, C-Byte has relied on best-of-breed partners to fill out its solutions. C-Byte has combined
comprehensive professional services and standards-based system architectures with leading software applications, tools,
database, storage, systems management and microprocessor partners to become the fastest growing server vendor in a field of
larger competitors.

Data Center (Unix and
Windows) The second generation Data Center environment announced in late 2002, offers the industry's first
integrated single system
supporting concurrent Windows and Unix resources within a managed environment including Intel Pentium® III Xeon
processors, middleware, databases, storage and back-up and management tools. The Data Center combines unique
C-Byte technology such as an SMP architecture and Advanced Detection Availability Manager (ADAM) with key
components from partners including Microsoft, Oracle, EMC, STK and Computer Associates. The Data Center provides a framework
through which customers can quickly deploy applications and add new capabilities over time, protecting their infrastructure
investment. |

UNIX
C-Byte continues to support its previous generation Series Intel Pentium processor-based Unix systems
scalable from departmental to data center class applications, with clustered and high availability
configurations. |
